Serves 6 to 8


1 9-inch pie shell (homemade or purchased from the refrigerator or freezer section)
1½ cups pancake syrup
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons bourbon
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons melted chocolate chips
2/3 cup pecans


Prebake the pie shell at 350 degrees until light brown. Remove to cool. Whisk syrup, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla and eggs until light ribbons form. Whisk in melted butter and set aside. Spread melted chocolate on bottom of pie shell and cool for 10 minutes. Spread pecans in pie shell. Add the liquid ingredients. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Allow pie to cool before serving.
